An august dance party to remember: the party begins
When Sarah shared M + C’s timeline, and I saw a 3 pm ceremony, and a 11 pm end time, I knew they were planning an absolute party. When we began discussing their coverage, they emphasized that they wanted to avoid “posing for the photo” and wanted to limit formal photo time in favour of candids. They wanted to keep the energy of the celebration flowing, and not break up the day with ridged posing. When I look back at this gallery it’s so beautifully alive with guests and friends who are full of energy and show up fully as themselves.

AUGUST “VEGAS” IN VICTORIA WEDDING

The day began upstairs at the Esquimalt Gorge Park Pavilion, where Function Design House brought the reception space to life, while the wedding ceremony was set just outside under a large, graceful tree.
The dark Brentwood chairs, delicate bows, and pops of red created a whimsical yet refined atmosphere. M personally curated every detail of the design, from the single-stem florals to the clean, minimalist tablescapes, giving the space a modern, effortless elegance.
One of the greatest charms of the pavilion is its versatility. With historic architecture, options for both indoor and outdoor ceremonies, and proximity to the scenic Gorge Waterway and a 100-year-old Japanese garden, it offers endless opportunities for portraits without leaving the property. As an affordable wedding venue in Victoria, it comfortably hosts up to 120 guests, with more than 86 onsite parking spaces.
The playful vintage Vegas touches—along with a darling pink papier-mâché heart crafted by M’s dad—added subtle, personal, and utterly charming details that made the day feel joyful, intimate, and unmistakably theirs.
M + C chose to see each other down the aisle, keeping their ceremony simple and intimate, surrounded by their vibrant wedding party. As soon as their vows were exchanged, we moved into family portraits and a few shots with the wedding party. By keeping their photo list focused on the core groups, they had plenty of time to relax and enjoy their cocktail hour without feeling rushed.
A Vegas-inspired wedding calls for a car as fun as the day itself—and we had a blast capturing a little magic with this champagne-toned vintage Rolls Royce.
For about fifteen minutes, we mixed classic poses with playful prompts, catching a few quiet, joyful moments before heading back to the party and the rest of the celebration.
Their cocktail hour and reception were full of laughter and joy. Downstairs, the live band kept the energy lively while the upstairs space was being finalized for dinner. Toasts and speeches flowed throughout the evening, brimming with heartfelt stories, pride, and playful memories. As the golden hour light spilled across the upstairs reception, the space felt truly magical—a quiet, glowing pause in a day that was otherwise all celebration and connection.
The dance floor was one for the ages. After the special dances, the night exploded into a relentless celebration, full of movement, laughter, and joy. M changed into a white fringe dress that didn’t stop swaying for a moment, keeping the energy alive from start to finish. The evening wrapped up with an epic pre-game station—pre-rolls and pizza for the win—sending everyone home with big smiles and full hearts. The couple and the wedding party kept the night going and all went to the bar to keep dancing.

Hi, I’m Kate Tutty, a Vancouver Island–based photographer and vintage filmmaker capturing love stories across the West Coast.

My approach is quiet, intentional, and rooted in connection—gentle prompts and thoughtful guidance help you move, laugh, and simply be present with each other.
