SPRING GARDEN CITY wedding: A FAMILY BEGINS
C and L reached out to me the previous summer to plan a classic, family-focused black-tie wedding. They described their love style as comforting, gentle, selfless, unbreakable, and sweet, and that family meant a lot to them – especially since Claire was a few months pregnant. The plan was to get ready in the penthouse of the Victoria Chateau, which offers gorgeous cityscape views, before heading to Beacon Hill Park for an afternoon ceremony and photos, followed by a downtown reception.

BLACK TIE SPRING WEDDING

GETTING READY WITH FAMILY IN THE HEART OF THE CITY
The day began in the Penthouse, with the wedding party and close friends and family. We enjoyed a slow detail-filled morning, full of heartfelt reveals with family and friends. We’d planned to do a first look down the aisle, so this space made it easy to host their large wedding party and capture everyone easing into the day.
After we all enjoyed a couple of glasses of bubbly (sans alchohol) we left for the ceremony.
Dakota of Luxura Events coordinated the wedding ceremony setup at Beacon Hill Park.
The clean white chairs and pillars elevated the ceremony space beautifully.
What’s great about this gorgeous pond site in Beaconhill park is that it can accommodate a large guest count in a central location at an affordable wedding venue rate.
The black-tie dress code, lush willow trees, gentle spring sun, fountains and peacocks gave the space a whimsical yet stately quality.
After an emotional reveal while walking down the aisle, and a big celebration as they exited their ceremony space, we dove into a thorough family photo list before switching up the scenery, stepping into the limo, and stopping by the Dallas Road breakwater seawall for their couple portraits.
Once things were official, we dove into a thorough family photo list, and then took a limo to the waterfront to capture some moments along Victoria’s iconic seawall. We returned to their reception and dove into a classic evening of heartfelt toasts, speaches and dancing. Their cake cut (and smash) was so predictably them, and their dancefloor was completely iconic. From limbo, to varsity football plays, dancefloors remain among my favourite moments to capture.
THINKING ABOUT HAVING A WEDDING IN VICTORIA?
VICTORIA Weddings: A Location That Has It All
For couples drawn to meaningful experiences, beautiful landscapes, and a wedding day that feels both elevated and effortless, getting married in Victoria, BC offers something truly special.
Victoria sits at a rare intersection of nature and culture. Oceanfront paths, historic architecture, coastal forests, and manicured gardens all exist within a compact, thoughtfully connected city. This makes it an ideal location for couples who want variety without complication—where each part of the day flows naturally into the next.
One of the greatest advantages of getting married in Victoria, BC is proximity. Many of the region’s most beloved ceremony locations—parks, beaches, gardens, and heritage sites—are just minutes apart. It’s entirely possible to exchange vows surrounded by nature, step into a quiet urban pocket for portraits, and arrive at your reception without long drives or logistical stress. Short travel times preserve the energy of the day and allow space for presence, connection, and spontaneity.
Victoria’s abundance of parks and protected natural areas also sets it apart as a wedding destination. Locations like Beacon Hill Park, Dallas Road, Mount Tolmie, and nearby coastal trails offer sweeping views, open skies, and a sense of calm that’s difficult to replicate elsewhere. These spaces are especially meaningful for couples who want their wedding to feel grounded, intentional, and deeply connected to place.
At the same time, Victoria offers a refined urban experience. Downtown venues, boutique hotels, heritage buildings, and waterfront restaurants bring an understated elegance to the celebration—without ever feeling far removed from the natural landscape that defines the region.
For couples planning a wedding that values atmosphere over excess and intention over performance, getting married in Victoria, BC creates room for a slower rhythm. It’s a place where beauty doesn’t require effort, where transitions are gentle, and where the day feels held—by the land, the light, and the people you’ve gathered.
