“Kate was such a pleasure to work with. From the moment I had my initial call with her, I knew she was our photographer. She is the type of person who you instantly feel comfortable with, like she has been your friend for ages. I think that’s a super special quality to have in a photographer.

I was nervous because I struggled with photographers giving me direction and have found it difficult to just relax in front of the camera. But I was able to totally lean into the experience during our wedding day and felt 100% myself.”

Kayla

Kate (she / they)’s journey into the Victoria BC photography world began in a high school darkroom 15 years ago. She became passionate about elevating people’s self-image as well as capturing the energy of special moments.

At university, she studied contemporary and studio photography as a part of her Bachelor of Arts in Geography (Urban, Community, Sustainable Planning).

She approaches her coverage with a grounded, playful sense of humour, warm professionalism, and a focused approach to our time together.

To date, Kate’s been featured in Rocky Mountain Bride, and was a finalist for the group photo category for the Vancouver Island Wedding Awards in 2022.

When she’s not at a wedding, she can be found in a dance class or kitchen trying out a new recipe, skiing Whistler in the winters where her own parent’s love story began, or attending a day or two of a local music festival.

She’s a night owl by nature, and her mornings start slow – she splits her office time between her heritage home office and cycling to my favourite local coffee shops.

Book in for a discovery call with Kate to explore working with her or anyone else on her team.

“Paige went above and beyond her role! The effortless, in-between shots that she captured were some of my favourite photos in our album.

She is an absolute delight, and I will definitely use her again in the future. I can’t recommend enough!”

— Kelly & Ed

Paige (she / her) is a hopeless romantic, a pun-wielding expert, an artisanal ice cream connoisseur, and a self-proclaimed “friends” aficionado who can quote any and every episode. She supports the studio as an associate and second photographer for select 2025 dates alongside her own client schedule and career as a nurse.

Her life changed forever in 2024 when she became a mother to the cutest little squish. It has since shaped how she notices and captures little moments and gentle details.

To date, she’s been featured in West Coast Weddings, Confetti and Rocky Mountain Bride.

To book Paige as a lead associate photographer, she would join us during a discovery call so you can meet and personally explore working together.

But,

Why?

This craft is the practice of holding a space that allows each individual to dive into their authentic self.

As a Victoria BC photographer, Kate and her team offers transcendent photoshoots that capture organic stories that mirror your connection and expression through our intimate, transformational process. We celebrate and elevate the subtle ‘every day love’ and pair it with raw, artful glamour. Whether it is nurturing the delicate nature of self image or two people coming together, we provide an open, active listening relationship with each client.

Kate promotes embodiment and authentic expression throughout every step of the process.

WHO DOESN’T LOVE A GOOD ORIGIN STORY?

Kate’s parents always said they “built their wedding chapel” – it took a year of boating the supplies into a remote Gulf Island (Ruxton), and working long hours into the dark after work. They lived in a small 400 foot beach cabin at the time and balanced their careers as the build.

Her mom, a passionate rock mason, took over designing and building a sand stone fire place (all 10 tons of it). Her dad, a biologist, and his friends took charge of the, footings, framing, and amenities including their much loved seaside cedar sauna named “Insaunity” and then “Insaunity Two” – after the first drifted away in a high tide.

Their wedding was an intimate seaside ceremony on their deck followed by a 3 day potluck-style party – all shot on 35 mm film by a favourite Uncle – on an August long weekend in 1983. There were enough friends, and cold champagne pops, that the sauna windows didn’t survive the weekend.

The albums they created of this era are at the heart of her family’s legacy. This cabin, and their goal setting, was truly the foundation they built their family on.

No matter what happens, what changes in your life, and what stays the same – create, document, preserve and cherish the beauty in your life. The memorable, the lovable, and that which made you feel most alive – these things help ground and centre you, during the best days and the hardest.

Our photos contain the energy of our greatest moments – they become all that we have, and all that remains.
